Seeking

Answer your calling

The Situation

Sense of purpose is elusive, it is a pull, a calling, some kind of magnetic field that steers us away from things reasoned but not felt, towards those things known but not quite understood.

Urges, doubt, joy, moral pain, serendipities, anger and random curiosity seem to conspire to nudge us down a path. We can resist, plod along or skip forward, we will eventually get there. Unless of course we buy into the pain instead, and bask in it. The cost of ignoring our calling is damaging to the soul, or to the soul's comfort in this life time.

If we do let ourselves be lured into those unchartered territories, what awaits is genuine participation in the game of life: the unique combination of gifts, connections, creativity, service, belonging and flow that fulfil the secret aim of our existence.

Changing Lines

No Changing Line

With the consciousness of being 'separate' comes the need to connect and come together, on a deep and authentic level.

These encounters shape us and make us grow until we really understand who we are, what we are here for.

Then the urge to act by that purpose becomes paramount, impossible to ignore, and it reconciles us with the independence that allows us to do our part.

Line 1 - NEW MEANING, NEW CREW

Embracing our purpose immerses us into a new plane of existence, where the rules we knew no longer make sense. What is valuable and worthwhile, productive and helpful, we now see in a completely new way, or need to.

In this new world order, our former connections may no longer flow and new people come into our life. If we choose to meet and greet them, we may soon feel at home.

Line 2 - SPEAK FROM THE HEART

The head and the heart are often strangers to each other. The language is different, the reasons are different, and the paths run on different planes.

In the heart, joy, intuition, spontaneity and candour rule with a dose of irresponsibility, confusion and apprehension.

In matters of the soul, this openness is far more reasonable than logic and seasoned decisions.

After all, the head is more often than not governed by fear, and finding our purpose and rightful place in the world is all about transcending our fears.

Line 3 - COME ALONG

Seeking is very much about following a path, trying not to fall into traps, changing with the landscapes and the seasons. It involves much less deciding than we expected.

On the path, those who have travelled before us lead the way, inviting us to trust their wisdom over our own heart, for a while, until our heart catches the tune.

It’s uncomfortable and takes away some freedom along with the illusions, but it’s the only way out of narrow or self-centred sights.

Line 4 - KEEP GOING

Answering our calling involves keeping committed to our direction through darkness and questioning.

Our strength is defined by the ability to stick to our clarity and inner truth, to not be swayed by old habits or differences with others but rather stay on our own path and reaching, with trust, for what is calling us.

Line 5 - GO DEEPER

Seeking is an endless process, it is a state of being, an embracing of constant change and infinite intelligence.
Purpose cannot be conquered, it can only be participated in, adhered to, furthered.

The more we find communion with the meaning of life, of our purpose in it, with the ways of love, and our practice of it, the more elevating and transformative our experience is.

Line 6 - FREEDOM IN COMMITMENT

Freewill has no meaning unless we exercise our right to choose, and choosing binds us to our decision.

When we hear our calling and choose to answer, we embrace an identity, a direction, a thread to pull and follow to an end - hopefully a glorious end - likely through dark times, marshes and many hurdles.

That kind of commitment may feel like sacrifice, but it is freewill in action, the very reason and point of us being our own person.
