Journey

Be curious

The Situation

Anywhere could be right, could be home. Any option can be chosen, yet until the exploration is complete, nothing feels right, and all options are too big a sacrifice of other possibilities.

The middle is limbo, undecided, uncommitted. Like everything else, it won't last, but while it does, embracing being alien, a guest, a temporary reality, undeserving of attachment is necessary and the only effective way to be. Looking for safety in the dependence on people, places and things, is not an option. It is an illusion.

It's not the destination, it is the journey that counts - being present and available, taking in moments, being of service, honouring the gifts of the day, the opportunities at hand.

Changing Lines

No Changing Line

Making sense of the world only invites us to transform into the creature we are meant to be.

With all the courage we may muster in that endeavour, it is through calm acceptance of who, where and when we are, that we finally understand that our worth is already acquired, and not to be conquered.

All we need to do is nurture it.

Line 1 - OPEN-MINDED CURIOSITY

Exploration invites careful attention to the fabric of identities and fields - what distinguishes them, makes their value.

Having an opinion as to what what they should be, or insisting on comparing endlessly with other truths from other realms is unattractive. It is likely to come across as judgemental and alien rather than wise and instructive.

These observations have merit in our inner world, for our benefit, and to feed our making sense of the world, but unprompted, they only impose our agenda on others instead of welcoming what is on offer.

Line 2 - TASTE THE FEEL

Our exploration is a seeking, for a place to settle down, a purpose to commit to, a person to partner with.

If we just pass by and move along, options at best become a maybe, never a yes. Until we immerse ourselves and get a sense of what it would be like to choose this, we are not actually exploring.

We need pointers, points of comparison, a experiential knowledge of what is on offer before we can truly know what’s right for us.

Line 3 - MOVE ON & ALONG

One can't be on a journey and stay put. There is no such thing as forming habits and growing roots.

The wandering nature of the Journey requires us to not commit to anything.

Progressing means not forming attachments, not accumulating wealth or responsibilities.

Line 4 - TRAVEL LIGHT

Journeying involves rest, exploration, some immersion. It looses its colour, and defeats its purpose, in growing comfort, in building a life.

Baggage and attachments impair the wandering, they create dissonance within ourselves. We seek the lightness of detachment; negotiating towards that half ground of small resources that weigh us down and hold us back only makes us restless. Bargaining does us a greater disservice than renunciation.

Line 5 - OFFER SOMETHING

People don’t like a taker.

With our curious mind and our lightness, we are an empty vessel waiting to be filled, and it’s nobody’s job to do this.
Thankfully, neither is it required than anyone take on the task.

The best way to demonstrate that our availability is a gift and not a demand, is to put our resources in service of those on our path.

What we do to take care of our self we can share with others, teach a little, guide and nurture. It may seem like a loss for an instant, but our participation is a key - it grants us a welcome and a place in the community.

Line 6 - MIND YOUR TRACE

Because a scenery will soon be replaced by another doesn’t mean we don’t have a trail.

Journeying is no reason for neglect, carelessness or disinvestment in humanity.

On the contrary, the aim is learning to apply universal humanness; presence, connection, service, compassion and gratitude for this universe we share.

When we fail to care for our resources and connections as if we’ll be here forever, we forfeit our access to the abundance of the Creation.

And then comes the anguish...
